Understanding Giving and Receiving – Part 2

Last week we saw that the Word of God, and not money, is the universal seed, and that the sower is the one who dispenses the Word, and not the one who gives material substance such as money. This week I bring you the concluding part of the series.

Giving and receiving is a holy and willing partnership that increases the revelation of God’s Word and prosperity.  The increased prosperity is a result of walking in the light of the Word, and increased revelation results from intense focus, and attention to prayer and the ministry of the Word.

Galatians 6:6

Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

When we give material things we directly receive spiritual things. These spiritual things when engaged empower the giver to prosper materially. Until ministers of the gospel see church services as divine platforms for training and building the capacity of the body of Christ by feeding them with pure spiritual good, many who give in church will be short changed.

Giving is a voluntary response to spiritual good (revelation knowledge of the glad tidings of the Kingdom of God) received. Givers ought to become stewards of creative solutions in their area of calling.  Giving is the distribution of the benefits of production ignited by revelation from the Word.

First Receiving, then Giving

It is evident in the following scriptures that there is first receiving before giving.

1 Corinthians 9:11

If we have sown unto you spiritual thingsis it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

Galatians 6:6

Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

Romans 15:27

It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.

Do you see that giving is not the cause of receiving but rather the effect of receiving? We don’t give to get; we give because we have gotten. You do not give waiting to receive; if you do, it is proof that you don’t understand giving and receiving. And if you do not understand the giving and receiving equation, you will be frustrated giver. Giving and receiving is the appreciation of spiritual things with material things, whilst the spiritual things received become the fuel for effective and prosperous living. Remember, spiritual things produce material things.
