The Value of Speaking in Unknown Tongues

Praying in the Spirit in unknown tongues has been grossly underestimated by many believers. However, as the wisdom of the world continues to fail in dealing with the challenges of life, we need to engage this supernatural language more, since it is an indispensable tool in tapping into the wisdom of God to solve the problems of humanity.
I would like to draw your attention to some incalculable benefits of praying in other tongues to encourage you to make praying in unknown tongues second nature to you.

It is God\’s supernatural ability at work in you

Acts 2:4 – \”And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance\”.  (Emphasis mine)

The disciples in the upper room were able to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. It was not the exercise of a natural ability they had but of the supernatural ability of the Spirit. Jesus said, \”You shall receive ability after the Holy Spirit comes upon you\” (Acts 1:8). Speaking in tongues actually is exercising yourself in the supernatural ability of the Spirit.

It is engaging the irresistible wisdom of God

Acts 2:4 … \”and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance\”. (Emphasis mine)

The utterance the Spirit gives is the wisdom of God for you in Christ. Give yourself to speaking this utterance that the Spirit gives; you will not only discover the plan of God but also be empowered to execute it. In 1 Corinthians 14:2 Paul says speaking in tongues is speaking mysteries in the spirit. Then in 1 Corinthians 2:7 He says, \”But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery…\”

You see, praying in other tongues is deploying the mysterious wisdom of God. It is interesting to note that the Greek word translated \’Utterance\’ actually means \”not a word of everyday speech but one belonging to elevated and dignified discourse\”. It is consecrated speech to a Holy God. Praying in tongues is serious business!

By the agency of speaking in tongues, you are effectively stewarding the utterance of the Spirit in communication with God; using words that capture the exact plan of God for you. If you use natural and uninspired words, you will fail to appropriately express the concrete purpose of God with the specificity required to bring about the material changes you desire.

It is God\’s wisdom for your unfettered Progress

Jude 1:20
\”But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost\” – (Emphasis mine). Speaking in tongues as a life style will put you on a path of growth and development that cannot be stopped. I like that; the Bible said building up ….yourself; how far do you want to go? Your progress can be independent of circumstances. Praise God! Build up every day. Make progress every day. You can, through the Holy Ghost.

Spend time speaking the utterance of the Spirit.  Everything about you will change; even if takes time, it will be a sure change. Rule for God!
