Prosperity Decoded

This week, I would like to draw your attention to the truth that prosperity is God’s will for you. God’s desire for you to prosper is more than a wish on God’s part – He paid the ultimate price on Calvary to ensure that His children walk in prosperity. Even though He has already paid a hefty price – the death of His only begotten son, we also have a responsibility to ensure we do walk in prosperity as God has designed. There are three things you must understand about prosperity: 1. The Revelation of Prosperity 2. The Production of Prosperity, and 3. The Distribution of Prosperity.

The Revelation of Prosperity
In 2 Corinthians 5:21, the Bible says “For he (God) hath made him (Christ) to be sin for us (you and me), who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (emphasis mine).  Christ, who we know is co-equal with God – the creator of the whole world – descended from the Heavenly throne and came into the world to die for man. Not only did He bear our sins, but He became sin personified, in order to bear the penalty of our sins. That was a very huge sacrifice for the One who thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men (Philippians 2:6,7).

In the same way Jesus suffered sin in order to qualify us to be righteous, He also had to become poor, for our sakes, as described in 2 Corinthians 8:9 – “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich”.

However just because you are born again and the blessings of God have been decreed upon you does not mean that prosperity will automatically show up in your life. God’s Word says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 3:2). You must be processed by the Word in order to function in the prosperity Jesus procured with his blood.

Your prosperity does not start from the material realm but from the immaterial realm. If you take the poorest person in the earth and throw him into the seat of the richest man on the earth, he will malfunction. He will be a poor man with a lot of possessions. Similarly if you take everything a truly prosperous man has from him, he will get them back. He is not prosperous because he has possessions but rather he has possessions because he is prosperous.

The Production of Prosperity
This is where you take action in the light of the revelation of prosperity. The revelation is actually the wisdom of God. You deliberately engage the wisdom of God to deliver value through products and services (solving specific problems of people and places). This factor in the prosperity equation is the most ignored by many believers. Many preachers come across as though giving is the only factor in prosperity thereby breeding frustrated givers. Production is what will guarantee constant and consistent prosperity. God’s first instruction to man was ‘be fruitful’ meaning be productive. Work from God’s perspective is the main means of becoming fruitful, multiplying, replenishing and subduing the earth.

The Distribution of Prosperity
The distribution of wealth is an entire ministry in the body of Christ. It is also the purpose of prosperity. God told Abraham that He was going to bless him and make him a blessing. Giving is love in action. Even though you can give without loving, you can’t love without giving (1 Cor 13:3). For God so love the world that He gave… (John 3:16). Giving is the outlet of Love. Tithes and offerings are really not a money issue but a love issue. God wants you to distribute to the needs of the saints (Romans 12:13); support the weak (Act 20:35); feed the hungry; water the thirsty; clothe the naked; shelter the homeless; minister to the sick and prisoners (Matt 25:34-36). Tell me how you are going to walk in these scriptures without prospering. Take your eyes of you and your family and let God pour wealth through you for his purposes in the earth.

Enhance your wealth capacity to enable God to use you to help people and places.

Rule for God!
