The Power of New Testament Worship

Worship is a sure way of ministering to, and engaging the omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence of God.
We Can Offer True Worship
John 4:23-24
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

The above scripture was impossible for the Old Testament saints to practise because they were spiritually dead. However, they that worship under the New Testament are capable of worshipping in spirit and in truth because they have the Spirit of God in them through the New Birth and Infilling of the Spirit.
Isn’t it amazing that there is something the least in the Kingdom can offer to God that the giants of the Old Testament saints could not?

Worship in Spirit and in Truth
Worshipping in spirit and in truth connotes worshipping God in the spirit realm. The Greek word translated truth is ‘alētheia’ which means reality. Jesus was talking about worshipping in spirit reality because God is a Spirit. What God wants is spiritual sacrifices from spiritually alive saints.

Your Body is a Sacrifice in New Testament Worship

Romans 12:1
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship (English Standard Version).

Worship is connected to your body in the New Testament. Do you see that presenting your body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God is your spiritual worship?

Worship is what you do with your body to (towards) God in reverence.
True New Testament Worship intimates:
· Kneeling or prostration to do homage, whether in order to express respect or to make supplication.

· Lifting up of the hands toward God.
· Speaking with the mouth in psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, singing and making melodies.

· Offering the sacrifice of praise, which is, the fruit of your lips giving thanks to God’s name.

Under the Old Testament worshippers were not allowed to present an animal for sacrifice if it had any form of blemish. Therefore whatever is wrong with your body must be healed and corrected as we begin to offer our bodies as living sacrifices to God!
