Many young people bemoan the fact that they don’t have opportunities in their nations or society and that the older folks have hijacked everything. The youth want the elderly to just hand over to them everything they have worked for, just because they are the future leaders, but things don’t work that way. The system of the world will not give you what you deserve. You will have to be more, say more and do more to create your own space.
1Timothy 4:12
Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
Let No Man Despise Your Youth
The most effective way of ensuring your youth is not despised is to be an example of what you believe. Particularly for us as children of God, we have got to be living models of God’s Word.
Be an Example in Word
To become an example in word means excellence in speech anytime you speak. This calls for self-development and improvement. And here I am not referring to academic pursuits. I am talking about working on yourself till you eliminate any form of mediocrity and poverty from your speech. So you can say just like Jesus said, ‘the words that I speak they are spirit and they are life’.
Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Be an Example in Conduct
You cannot just demand that people should not despise you, what will force them not to despise you is when you model quality, value and impact. Become an example in conduct. At this point you have become a reflection of your words; the visible representation of quality and influence. You become the light of the world in deed.
Be an Example in Love, Spirit, Faith and Purity
1Timothy 4:12
‘…but be thou an example of the believers … in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity’.
The youth must become a model of unconditional love which is a prerequisite for God-success; worldly success is fuelled by greed. Becoming an example in spirit, faith and purity is a whole new way of living. It is life beyond the flesh and physicality; living in defiance of physical barriers and impediments.
Become an example, become unstoppable.
